After too many attempts, it’s official: Starbucks it’s not as good as they say (very unpopular opinion I know, but don’t hate me, it’s just a personal point of view). Maybe because the ice of my Frappuccino wasn’t crushed that well, or because that cookie was too crunchy, or because that double espresso was nothing more than coloured water… But unfortunately, marketing dark magic – which think of things like Unicorn Frappuccino – works not only for children, but also for those who “black is my happy colour”. Luckily, in Italy there are similar places that sell anglo-american inspired products, such as bakeries and some cafes. One of these is Busters Coffee, which is located on Asti, Rome and, obviously, Turin.
Preliminary statement: if you are an Italian breakfast nazi, then this place is not for you.
Busters Coffee is the classic Tv show location, where you can buy a muffin, spend hours with your friends or study, or where you can buy your flavoured American coffee to take away while you’re going shopping.
Besides the croissants, muffins and doughnuts, there are cookies, plumcakes, cheesecakes… some of them are better than others. Also, there is a good choice of cold and hot flavoured coffees, from the “Italian” zabaglione flavor – which is good both hot and cold – to the “oriental” chai latte or the magical Unicorn Milk (a perfect sparkling mix of colours and flavours, probably a limited edition).
A slice of velvet cake to eat and a cup of zabaglione to drink, and you’ll feel like you’re living in a Tv show.
